It’s time to take this whole smoothie/protein shake thing to the next level. This morning, I needed a pick me up and while I love my Chocolate Strawberry Protein Shake, I wanted a little more oomph. The MMA shake is loaded with antioxidants and still has a refreshing taste.
Mondays are always a downer. Especially the day after the Super Bowl. We’re in that blank area of the sports calendar where football is over, and baseball won’t start for a couple more months. I don’t really watch any shows (besides quality programming on Bravo), so I’m kind of down not having something to look forward to.
Fortunately, here in Texas it is really warm today. Nothing like some warm air and sun to chase away the blues. I even exposed my white legs and wore shorts on my run today. Coming home extra sweaty and feeling extra sluggish after snacking all day yesterday, I needed a good recharge and restore protein shake.
How I loaded this shake-
Mangos are full of antioxidants and vitamins. Instead of blending with a nut milk or water, I use oolong tea that also rehydrates dried apricots. I drink as much tea as I can, so why not add it to a smoothie? A spoon of flax meal adds fiber and omega-3. I spice it up with some dried ginger and cardamom. A scoop of ice with your favorite plant based vanilla protein powder in a blender and you have the perfect shake to erase the damage from yesterday.
Cheers.
